Privacy policy
EFFECTIVE 19 AUGUST 2026
Patchy Bolus Log does not collect, transmit, or store your personal or health information on our servers, because there are no servers. No accounts, no analytics, no advertising, no crash reporting. Everything you enter stays in the app’s own storage on your iPhone, and the app works completely in airplane mode.
What the app stores, and where
Patchy Bolus Log records the information you enter yourself:
- carbohydrate amounts, glucose readings, and the insulin doses you log
- your settings: carb ratio, correction factor, target glucose, maximum bolus, stacking window, display units, and language
- whether you have accepted the safety disclaimer
This is written to a local database file inside the app’s private storage area on your device. It is never uploaded. The developer cannot see it, and there is no mechanism that could retrieve it.
What the app does not do
- No accounts. There is nothing to sign up for, and no identifier is created for you.
- No network access. The app makes no requests to any server, ours or anyone else’s.
- No analytics or telemetry. No usage statistics, no session recording, no crash reports, no device fingerprinting.
- No advertising and no third-party trackers. No advertising SDKs are present.
- No Apple Health. The app requests no health permissions and neither reads from nor writes to HealthKit.
- No permissions of any kind — no location, camera, microphone, contacts, or notifications.
When information leaves your device
There are exactly two ways, and you start both of them.
CSV export
The History screen offers an export of your log as a CSV file, handed to the standard iOS share sheet. You choose the destination — Files, Mail, AirDrop, or another app. Once it leaves the share sheet, the file is governed by whatever service you sent it to. The app does not upload it anywhere and keeps no record of where it went.
Medical source links
The in-app safety and source citations link to the American Diabetes Association, NIDDK, the CDC, and Diabetes Care. Tapping one opens the link in your browser, which is an ordinary visit to that organisation’s website under their own privacy policy. No information about you is attached to the link.
Device backups
Because your log lives in the app’s storage on your iPhone, it is included in your normal device backups if you have them switched on — iCloud Backup, or an encrypted backup to a Mac or PC. Those backups are handled entirely by Apple under Apple’s privacy policy and your device settings. The developer of Patchy Bolus Log has no access to them.
Deleting your data
- Delete individual entries by swiping them away in History.
- Deleting the app from your iPhone removes its database and all settings permanently.
Because nothing is ever transmitted, there is no server-side copy to request, correct, or erase.
Children
Patchy Bolus Log is not directed at children under 13, and collects no information from anyone, including children.
Your rights under PIPEDA, GDPR, UK GDPR, and CCPA
These laws grant rights over personal data that an organisation holds about you — access, correction, deletion, portability, and opting out of sale or sharing. Patchy Bolus Log holds no personal data about you, sells no data, and shares no data, so there is nothing to exercise those rights against. Your data stays on a device you control, and you can export it yourself at any time.
The developer is based in Ontario, Canada. Because the app collects nothing and transmits nothing, no personal information is ever gathered, used, or disclosed under Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act, and there is no cross-border transfer of your information to disclose.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be published at this address with a new effective date. Material changes will also be noted in the app’s release notes.

Patchy Bolus Log is not a medical device and gives no medical advice. It is a logbook and an arithmetic aid, and it is not a substitute for your healthcare provider. Every value used in a calculation is one you entered. Always confirm your insulin doses with your diabetes care team.
